What does the course involve? 

The Construction and the Built Environment Level 3 Extended Certificate is a programme designed to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and skills in the field of construction and the built environment. This course offers an opportunity for individuals interested in the construction industry to develop an understanding of the various aspects involved in planning, designing, and constructing buildings and infrastructure. 

This course will enable learners to progress their career in the construction and built environment sector in jobs such as Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Building Surveyor, Project Manager, Site Manager, Civil Engineer, Property Developer, Housing Manager or Facilities Manager.  

The units that you will be studying on this course include Construction Principles, Construction Technology, Design for Construction and the Built Environment and two of the following three units: Construction Commercial Management, Retrofit in Construction and the Built Environment and Modelling in Construction. 

Is it for me? 

This course will appeal to students wishing to develop construction technology skills and knowledge, transferable to future employment in the construction industry. 

How will I be assessed? 

Mandatory 3 units: 

2 Exam based (50% of the grades) and 1 Assignment based unit 

Optional 2 units 

Assignment based. 

Where can this course take me?

Students can go on to university courses, apprenticeships or employment in a career in the construction and built environment sector. 

Entry Requirements 

Standard entry requirements, plus: 

  • Grade 4 in GCSE English Language 
  • Grade 5 in GCSE Maths 

Additional Costs 

There are no charges to study this course. However, there may be some costs for trips 

Additional qualifications 

AAQ level 3 Construction and built environment complements Maths, Physics, D&T, sciences and other technical courses, as well as artistic and creative subjects.
